Summer hidden gems

Getting to the seaside has never been easier by rail. All summer long we are running a large number of train services from London Terminals to stations across Kent and East Sussex; our region is great for a variety of things to do this summer.

Sit back, relax and make the most out of your journey – grab some snacks, a good book and settle in. Here are some of our top tips for making your journey even easier:

• Book in advance online or at a ticket office for the best fares - don’t forget to have your booking reference ready to collect your tickets from ticket vending machines
• Download our ‘On Track’ app before you travel to get live service information at your fingertips! Follow @SE_Railway on Twitter for real-time information
• You can get to the coast from most of our London Terminals so plan ahead, and travel outside of peak times to avoid the crowds
• If you’re travelling to Ramsgate, Broadstairs or Margate from St Pancras International or Stratford International take the train via Canterbury West. This train is quicker than the Gravesend route and tends to have more carriages - meaning more seats!
• We have a short platform at Canterbury West, so make sure you’re travelling in the front 8 coaches if you want to get off the train here
• We don’t sell food or drinks on board so make sure you bring a bottle of water and carry snacks
• Our trains have handy over-head racks for your bags – just don’t leave them behind!
• We’ve produced a number of guides for our passengers with accessibility needs, ask a member of staff for these or find them here
• PlusBus tickets are available from many of our stations which means you’ll need just one ticket for your combined rail and bus journey
