To maintain and improve the UK's rail infrastructure, Network Rail has to carry out regular planned improvement works. These works are normally done on weekends, bank holidays and after 10pm during the week, but it may also affect our services at other times. Please be aware, where replacement buses are in operation, journeys may take longer than normal.
Check before you travel by using our online journey planner or download our Southeastern app for the most up-to-date information.
You can find current information on what alternative transport you can use on our planned engineering work page or during disruption please check our homepage.
You can get details of where replacement bus stops are located on our station information pages and our CIS station screens.
Station posters also show you where to pick up replacement buses. These are normally located in the booking hall.
If you're still unsure and your station is manned, please speak with an employee or call Customer Services on 0345 322 7021.
Your journey will be longer than usual. Alternative routes or transport are planned several weeks in advance.
However, if you travel on a rail replacement bus service and this is delayed by 15 minutes or more on the scheduled rail replacement bus service timetable, you can make a Delay Repay claim.
Please check the rail replacement bus timetable before travelling.
Unfortunately, wheeled vehicles such as bikes and scooters are not permitted on rail replacement buses. This is for reasons of safety and space, and it’s a standard UK guideline.
Folding bikes can be put in the luggage rack if there’s space.
For more information visit our bike policy page.
