The tree blocking the railway lines in the Hasting area has now been removed, allowing lines to reopened. Trains running to and from this station may be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 60 minutes.
Disruption is expected until 10:00.
What has happened?
Network Rail have been monitoring the ongoing weather conditions and informed us that following the most recent forecasts, the Hastings line would need to be inspected for obstructions before our service could start. An engineering train found a tree blocking the line towards London between Tunbridge Wells and Frant - the crew have now removed the tree and have proceeded to Hastings without encountering any other obstructions.
How does this affect my journey?
Trains to and from Hastings are currently disrupted, and may be delayed, altered or cancelled while we work to return the service to normal.
What should I do?
Please allow extra time to complete your journey. You can use your ticket at no extra cost on:
- Southern between Hastings and Ashford International
- Southern between Hastings and London Victoria
- Mainline services between Ashford International and London via Paddock Wood and Maidstone East

Routes affected:
Between London Charing Cross and Hastings, between Grove Park and Bromsgrove North
Engineering work is taking place across the Southeastern network, closing various lines.
Monday:
From 22:45 until the end of service, buses will replace trains between Tonbridge and Wadhurst / Hastings.
Monday to Thursday:
From 23:45 until the end of service, services between Grove Park and Bromley North will not run. You should use London Bus Routes 126 and 261 to complete your journey.
Monday and Wednesday:
The 22:10 London Victoria to Dover Priory service will run direct between Faversham and Dover Priory. A replacement bus service will run between:
- Faversham and Dover Priory calling at Canterbury East
- Canterbury East and Dover Priory via Kearnsey, calling at all stations
- Faversham and Selling
From 23:50 until the end of service, buses will replace trains between Sittingbourne / Herne Bay and Ramsgate. These buses will not call at Teynham. A minibus service will run between Sittingbourne and Faversham via Teynham.
The 23:20 and 23:50 London St Pancras International to Faversham services will be replaced by bus services between Ebbsfleet International / Gillingham and Faversham, calling at all stations except Higham, Newington, and Teynham.
Tuesday to Friday:
From 00:15 until the end of service, services between London Victoria and Orpington via Beckenham Junction will be diverted beween London Victoria and Shortlands, calling additionally at Denmark Hill. Replacement bus service will run between Denmark Hill and Orpington via Herne Hill / Beckenham Junction calling at all stations except Brixton, and between London Victoria and Bromley South calling at all stations except Brixton. If you are travelling to / from Brixton, you should use London Underground services between Victoria and Brixton.
Tuesday only:
From 23:45 until the end of service, buses will replace trains between:
- Tunbridge Wells and Battle, calling at Wadhurst
- Battle and Hastings, calling at West St Leonards and St Leonards Warrior Square
- Tunbridge Wells and Robertsbridge, calling at all stations
- Battle and Crowhurst
Wednesday and Friday:
The 00:30 London Cannon Street to Dartford via Bexleyheath service will be diverted to and terminate at Slade Green.
From 01:15 until the end of service, buses will replace trains between Slade Green and Dartford.
Thursday:
The 22:45 London Charing Cross to Hastings service will run direct between Tunbridge Wells and St Leonards Warrior Square and the 23:45 London Charing Cross to Hastings train will only run between London Charing Cross and Tunbridge Wells. Replacement bus services will run between:
- Tunbridge Wells and West St Leonards, calling at all stations except Frant and Crowhurst
- Battle and Crowhurst

Various Southeastern routes
Engineering work is taking place at various locations on the Southeastern network, closing some lines overnight from Monday to Thursday.
These changes may be subject to further alteration on some days, such as starting earlier, or not taking place at all. Please check your journey using the Journey Planner, and also check other items on our engineering pages for the date of your journey.
Mondays only:
Every Monday night, Network Rail carry out essential maintenance on the lines between Ashford International and Ramsgate via Canterbury West.
From 23:50 until the end of service, buses replace trains between Ashford International and Canterbury West / Ramsgate.
Mondays and Tuesdays:
Every Monday and Tuesday night, Network Rail carry out essential maintenance on the lines to and from London Charing Cross.
There will be no trains at London Charing Cross or London Waterloo East from approximately 23:30 until the end of service.
Trains will run from London Cannon Street instead, and you will need to travel to / from London Cannon Street / London Bridge.
Tuesdays only:
Every Tuesday night, Network Rail carry out essential maintenance on the lines between Faversham and Ramsgate via Margate.
From 23:30 until the end of service, buses replace trains between Faversham and Margate / Ramsgate.
Wednesdays and Thursdays:
Every Wednesday and Thursday night, Network Rail carry out essential maintenance on the lines to / from London Cannon Street.
There will be no trains at London Cannon Street from approximately 23:35 until the end of service.
Trains will run to / from London Charing Cross instead, if you could please make your way to London Bridge for these trains.

Monday to Thursday:
From 23:00 until the end of service, you can use London Underground between Charing Cross, Embankment, Cannon Street, London Bridge, Southwark and Waterloo at no extra cost.

Ebbsfleet International: Lifts out of order
The lifts will be out of order between platform 2 and platform 3 from now until further notice at Ebbsfleet International station.
Additional Information:
Stations with step free access from STP and SFA: all assists will have to be sent via Faversham on platforms 5/6.
Via AFK: all assists that need a lift will have to be sent to SFA and then back down via Faversham. -
Herne Hill: Toilets out of order
The Disabled toilets on platform 1 are out of order at Herne Hill station.

The lifts will be out of order between platforms 2 & 3 and station overbridge from 07:22 on 24/01/2025 until further notice at Sittingbourne station.

The lifts will be out of order between platform 2 and booking hall from now until further notice at Staplehurst station.
