A broken down train in the Tonbridge area means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains at this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

What's happened?
A freight train has suppered an engine failure at Tonbridge. Engineers travelling with the train were not able to fix it and a rescue train will attach and attempt to move it away from the area to clear the line. The trains are now attached but a further issue has developed delaying the process.
How does this affect my journey?
Trains from Hastings can run into Tonbridge but are unable to continue towards London. Trains from London can run into the Tonbridge but unable to continue to Hastings. The crews will swap trains at Tonbridge to continue to their destinations, but may be delayed by approx. 20-30 minutes in the process.

No trains can run between Redhill and Tonbridge until further notice. If you are travelling on this route, you will need to use an alternative route and your journey will take up to 60 minutes longer than usual.
Southern trains will not call at the following stations:
If you are travelling to or from these stations, you will need to use alternative transport to reach your destination.
Passengers at Nutfield , Godstone , or Penshurst can use Metrobus routes towards Redhill, East Grinstead, Caterham, or Oxted.
From Edenbridge, you can walk to Edenbridge Town which takes approximately 20 minutes. From Edenbridge Town, you can connect with alternative Southern services towards East Croydon / London. You can find a walking map here.
Passengers at Tonbridge can use alternative Southeastern service towards London, then use Southern or Thameslink services southbound towards their destination.
Some rail replacement buses have been arranged and are running between Tonbridge and Redhill at the discrection of station staff. For more information, please speak to station staff.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
Your journey is likely to be disrupted by a broken down freight train in the Tonbridge area. Trains are unable to travel forward on any line. We won't be able to provide you with a train service at the moment. There is a rescue train on site and work is under way to attach it to the failed train.

Over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, engineering work is taking place on our network. Below is a summary of how our trains will be affected across the weekend.
Good Friday 18 April & Saturday 19 April
Most lines will be open and operating a Saturday service except for engineering work at London Victoria, Canterbury West & Bromley North.
There will be no Southeastern trains at London Victoria, and trains will be diverted to run to / from Charing Cross, Cannon Street & Blackfriars.
Buses will replace trains between:

Easter Sunday 20 April
We'll be operating a Sunday service except except for engineering work at London Victoria, Lewisham, Canterbury West, Faversham & Maidstone East.
There will be no Southeastern trains at London Victoria, and trains will be diverted to run to and from Cannon Street & Blackfriars.
Lewisham station will also be closed all day.
Buses will replace trains between:
Bank Holiday Monday 21 April
Most lines will be open and operating a Saturday service except for engineering work at London Victoria, Canterbury West & Lewisham.
There will be no Southeastern trains at London Victoria, and trains will be diverted to run to / from Charing Cross, Cannon Street & Blackfriars.

Engineering work is taking place between Canterbury West and Minster, closing all lines.
Paddock Wood Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Ramsgate via Ashford International will only run between London Charing Cross and Canterbury West.
Highspeed via Ashford International: Trains between London St Pancras International and Margate via Canterbury West will only run between London St Pancras International and Canterbury West. Trains between London St Pancras International and Ramsgate via Dover Priory are retimed and will stop additionally at Thanet Parkway. On Sunday, these trains will be extended to run to / from Margate, calling additionally at Broadstairs.

Various Southeastern routes
Engineering work is taking place at various locations on the Southeastern network, closing some lines overnight from Monday to Thursday.
These changes may be subject to further alteration on some days, such as starting earlier, or not taking place at all. Please check your journey using the Journey Planner, and also check other items on our engineering pages for the date of your journey.
Mondays only:
Every Monday night, Network Rail carry out essential maintenance on the lines between Ashford International and Ramsgate via Canterbury West.
From 23:50 until the end of service, buses replace trains between Ashford International and Canterbury West / Ramsgate.
Mondays and Tuesdays:
Every Monday and Tuesday night, Network Rail carry out essential maintenance on the lines to and from London Charing Cross.
There will be no trains at London Charing Cross or London Waterloo East from approximately 23:30 until the end of service.
Trains will run from London Cannon Street instead, and you will need to travel to / from London Cannon Street / London Bridge.
Tuesdays only:
Every Tuesday night, Network Rail carry out essential maintenance on the lines between Faversham and Ramsgate via Margate.
From 23:30 until the end of service, buses replace trains between Faversham and Margate / Ramsgate.
Wednesdays and Thursdays:
Every Wednesday and Thursday night, Network Rail carry out essential maintenance on the lines to / from London Cannon Street.
There will be no trains at London Cannon Street from approximately 23:35 until the end of service.
Trains will run to / from London Charing Cross instead, if you could please make your way to London Bridge for these trains.
