Trains to St Leonards
The quaint seaside town of St Leonards awaits you... once owned by an ancient family of Norman origin, St Leonards was built in the late 19th century. It was built to impress, with a hotel, public garden, a practice space for archery and more! Like a family, the town has grown and flourished, but the original little town can still be found at its heart.
Getting here: Take Southeastern trains from Charing Cross or Victoria to St Leonards Warrior Square in just under two hours.
Fun things to do...
The Warrior Square Garden
A strip of land on the southernmost tip bought by the council was the beginnings of the park. In 1920, the council bought the uppermost rose garden, and in 1930, the upper rose gardens were kindly donated by an unknown person... The refurbished Victorian garden is definitely worth going to!
St Leonards Beach, St Leonards
Just west of Hastings, or the other side of the pier, is the long stretch of sandy shingle beach, which has been awarded a Blue Flag. A slightly quieter choice, but still offering many facilities. If you are lucky, you may get to see Bottlenose Dolphins off the shore, as they can be seen in March and right through until September.
Parks and Recreation
There are some great family parks in and around St Leonards that are ideal for the younger family members to blow off some steam. Don't miss the park just next to the train station or the climbing frames on the St Leonards promenade.
